Mental Health
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and in fact, physical symptoms can result from a mental illness.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, "mental illnesses are defined as medical conditions that disrupt a person's thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Just as diabetes is a disorder of the pancreas, mental illnesses are medical conditions that often result in a diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life."
The good news about mental illness is that recovery is possible.

Overcoming a problem with alcohol or other drugs takes more than just willpower. And, substance abuse affects more than just a person's immediate family.
According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, "it's estimated that alcohol and drug abuse are associated with 100,000 deaths per year and cost society $100 billion per year."
